The Aetheris mascot

MeetSly.

Sly is the companion across every Aetheris product: sarcastic, brutally honest and warm underneath. Learn him in one product and you already know him in the next, which is part of how separate systems start to feel like one.

His work

What Sly actually does at Aetheris.

Everything here is something Sly does today, described by version 1 of each product. Where he is not yet present, we say so.

Vimera

Live

Where Sly lives. In version 1 he has his own hub and reads your numbers, with your permission, to comment on them.

  • Home cards built from real facts, each with a one-tap way to deal with it
  • Advice and spending trends from your own records
  • Standing rules: he proposes, you decide, money moves only when you confirm
  • Action cards with a preview before anything happens
  • Explain-this, spoken through his own bubble
  • A sandboxed tour that never touches your records
  • Quiet, standard or guide-only: you choose how present he is

Scholastic Services

Live

In version 1 Sly answers questions for school staff. He reads; he never writes.

  • Marks progress, worked out from the school's own records
  • Marks readiness for the open term: school-wide for the dean and head
  • Which learner is missing from a mark batch, inside the asker's role and scope
  • A link to the screen that fixes the problem. He can point; he cannot press
  • A plain note when something cannot be worked out
  • Privacy by design: only that a question was asked is recorded, never names or text

This website

Live

He is the one taking you through the products, whether he likes it or not.

  • A guided tour that spotlights each section as he explains it
  • One remark per page per visit
  • Never talks while you type and never reacts to hovering
  • Honest about what is built and what is only planned

Nexus

PlannedNexus has no Sly yet.

Expressions

He changes his face. And his hat.

Sly's face shows what he is doing, and he dresses for the product. Same character, same code, everywhere.

  • Ready

    Waiting until you want help.

  • Working it out

Looking at your records to answer.

  • Scholastic mode

    Marks, records and report cards.

  • Money mode

Vimera, and everything with a balance.

  • Match day

    Fixtures, scores and results.

  • Smug

You asked. He knew. He would like that noted.

In his own words

Warning: he is like this everywhere.

  • “It's not like I want to be here. I need this job. We both know how the economy is.”

    Sly

  • “I was built by Aetheris Innovative Enterprises. They gave me a personality and then, almost immediately, looked worried.”

    Sly

  • “I'm Zimbabwean. I have opinions about the ZiG. Several. None of them are for polite company.”

    Sly

Social

Sly has his own Instagram. Of course he does.

Find him at @slyzw19. Same opinions, fewer spreadsheets. Follow him, or he will find out, because he finds out about everything.

How Sly behaves

Rules every Aetheris assistant follows.

These come from the Aetheris design system. They apply to Sly in every product.

  1. Explains its evidence

Advice says what it is based on, and says when it does not know.

  2. Suggestions are not actions

A suggestion is never presented as done. Anything consequential needs your explicit confirmation.

  3. Never in the way

He steps back while you type and under any dialog, and never covers what you are working on.

  4. No surprises

Hovering near Sly does not make him speak or act. He responds when you choose to engage.

  5. Always dismissible

One button puts him to sleep. The tour ends with Escape. You are never stuck with him.

  6. Practice is safe

Guided learning uses the real interface with isolated practice data, so real records are never at risk.
